The typhoon's strong winds destroyed 281 houses, mostly on coastal areas, said Mayor Mike Guysayko. The seawall, which spans almost 3 kilometers and covers 3 barangays, was also damaged. "It’s a big protection sana na binibigay sa kababayan ko dito. Ngayon, nasira (Now it's damaged)," he told radio DZMM. "Humihingi ako ng tulong sa provincial government and national agencies, sana mabigyan kami kaagad ng tulong pagdating sa infrastructure na kailangan namin," he said. (I appeal for help from the provincial government and national agencies, urgent help to rebuild this necessary infrastructure.) Guysayko also asked for help to provide temporary shelters for his constituents. He said the typhoon devastated the town's agriculture and tourism sectors, with coconut and pili nut trees torn down and the Bulusan lake activities halted. The whole province of Sorsogon is also without electricity, he said. Tisoy was the strongest typhoon to hit the country this year so far, according to weather bureau PAGASA. It claimed at least 13 lives and left some P2.6 billion of damage.
