A low pressure area or brewing storm will bring occasionally heavy rains over Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan on Tuesday, the state weather bureau said.

The weather disturbance was 235 kilometers east southeast of Davao City at 3 a.m. It may barrel through Mindanao or Visayas towards the Sulu Sea or West Philippine Sea, and afterwards intensify into a storm, said PAGASA weather specialist Chris Perez.

The LPA will be called Samuel if it strengthens into the country's 19th storm this year, PAGASA earlier said.

The potential storm's trough or extension may trigger floods and landslides in Palawan and the central and southern islands, warned the weather agency.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience fair weather that may be marred by isolated rains, Perez told radio DZMM.

Meanwhile, cold winds from the northeast monsoon or amihan slightly weakened but could re-intensify next week in extreme Northern Luzon, he said.
