A brewing storm inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will not affect Metro Manila, where the government will host world leaders for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

The capital will experience fair weather in the next 2 or 3 days, except for isolated rains in the afternoon or evening, PAGASA meteorologist Chris Perez told DZMM.

The low pressure area will bring light rains to Mindanao, Central Visayas and the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte and Negros Occidental, he said.

The weather system was last spotted 320 kilometers east of General Santos City in South Cotabato. It was unlikely to intensify into a tropical cyclone, he said.

Leaders from 19 countries plus the heads of the United Nations and European Union are set to join the ASEAN meetings, which will run until Tuesday.
