Police are still struggling to identify the six armed men who barged into a suspected drug den in Mandaluyong City Monday night, killing five persons who were using shabu.

Eastern Police District (EPD) director Romulo Sapitula said four suspects served as lookouts while their two cohorts shot and killed Manuel Evangelista, Jennifer Discargar, Paulo Tuboroy, Edmar Velarde and MacMac Albano.

All five victims were included in the drugs watchlist of Barangay Addition Hills, Sapitula said.

He added that although initial probe shows their murder is likely linked to the narcotics trade, investigators cannot yet conclude that a rival drug gang was behind the killing.

The EPD, Sapitula said, is also looking into robbery as the motive behind the killing since one of the victims, Discargar, was allegedly carrying P200,000 cash that went missing after the attack.

Probers are looking for more clues based on CCTV footage of the crime scene.
