MANILA - The province of Quirino has been placed under a state of calamity, its governor said Wednesday in the aftermath of Typhoon "Rosita."

Governor Junie Cua said the most of the typhoon's damage was in agriculture and residential structures, though figures on the extent of damage are still coming in.

At least 2,250 people in Quirino fled their homes due to the onslaught of Rosita, Cua said, adding that electricity in the province is still out.

Cua said while Ompong was the stronger typhoon, Rosita was closer to Quirino at its peak and caused more damage to the province.

PAGASA has already lifted storm signals on Wednesday as Rosita weakened into a tropical storm. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday afternoon.
