MANILA - Residents are urged to remain indoors after typhoon Rosita lashed Quirino province early morning Tuesday.

Strong winds with heavy rains ripped tarpaulins, broke tree branches, and sent galvanized iron sheets flying.

Weather bureau PAGASA placed the entire province under Storm Signal No. 3, along with Isabela, Northern Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province and Pangasinan.

PAGASA said areas under Storm Signal 3 could experience 170 kph winds that could damage light structures and cause moderate to heavy damage to agriculture, PAGASA said.
Several areas are also without power.

Rosita made landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela before dawn, lashing the coastal town and nearby areas with fierce winds and rain.
