Why Serge Osmeña isn't keen on joining political rallies
Like in his previous senatorial bids, former Senator Sergio 'Serge' Osmeña III is still not keen on joining political rallies for his 2019 election campaign.
Speaking to ANC's "Beyond Politics," Osmeña said he finds joining political rallies "useless" and a "waste of time" since people are unlikely to remember all of the participants in such rallies.
"I don't go to political rallies because political rallies are a waste of time," he said. "That to me is absolutely useless."
Osmeña, who is running as an independent candidate in the 2019 midterm polls, said he would rather campaign alone than with political party mates.
"If I go alone, then they'll have to remember me. Now, if they vote for me or not, that's a different story," he said.
"So, I go to radio stations all over the country instead of joining rallies," he added.
Despite the growing influence of social media, Osmeña is still banking on television and radio mileage for his senatorial bid.
"People are going to Facebook. Well, Facebook is okay if you're one-on-one like president and vice president. It's not okay for senator because there's so many senators to look up," he said. "I think it's still TV or radio."
Osmeña is in the 8th to 17th bracket, according to a September Pulse Asia survey on senatorial voter preferences.
