All key officers in the Philippine National Police are under a 3-month probation starting Monday while all promotions will be suspended, its top leader said as the organization fought allegations that some of its members resold confiscated narcotics.

"Beginning today, all key positions are under probation for 3 months and all promotions will be on hold. I will make sure the ax will fall where it should if these leaders will not deliver results," PNP officer-in-charge Lt. General Archie Gamboa told reporters.

The PNP replaced the heads of its primary investigation arm, doctrine development, anti-drug group, directorate for intelligence, and several provincial and regional units, ABS-CBN sources said over the weekend.

The reshuffle came days after Gen. Oscar Albayalde resigned as PNP chief as he denied accusations that he protected 13 officers accused of pilfering 160 kilos of shabu in 2013.
