MANILA - Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, who is eyeing a Senate seat, said Monday he is not part of a political dynasty because he was duly elected by the people.

He said he is not in favor of legislation banning political dynasty.

Mangudadatu represents the province's second district and his brother Toto is the governor.

"I am elected by the people. Ako po ay na-elect ng mga tao sa Maguindanao province. So I don’t think I am a member of a political dynasty," he told ANC's Headstart.

"I cannot consider that because we are elected by the people," he said when asked if he considers their family a political dynasty.

Mangudadatu said if he loses in the Senate race, he would bow out of his political career and go back to being a businessman. ANC, October 16, 2018
