Duterte: I'm not afraid of death

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday said he is not afraid of death, amid speculations on his health.

"When you're getting old, me, they say I'm dying. Of course I will die some day. Walang problema iyan (that is not a problem)," he said in a speech during the launch of former President Fidel V. Ramos' book, "Prosper Thy Neighbor."

"Death should not worry anybody. It's inevitable and it can happen any day so what is there to talk about?" he added.

Earlier this month, Duterte and his aides revealed that he underwent endoscopy and that a "growth" was discovered in his digestive tract.

Duterte has been declared cancer-free, acting interior minister Eduardo Ano said last week.
