Unlike some Cabinet members, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol on Wednesday said he will not throw his hat in the 2019 mid-term elections.

"Ako po ay masaya sa aking posisyon ngayon at nakakatulong po ako sa ating mga magsasaka. At the same time, pangarap ko po ito na talagang mabago po ang ating agriculture sector," he told radio DZMM.

(I am happy with my post and that I can help farmers. At the same time, it has been my dream to reform our agriculture sector.)

Cabinet officials who are reportedly running in the 2019 elections are Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, and Guiling Mamondiong, director general of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, said President Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte earlier announced that former Customs chief and now Office of Civil Defense Deputy Administrator Nicanor Faeldon was also planning to run for governor in Mindoro.

Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr., meanwhile, is reported to be eyeing the gubernatorial post in Bohol. He is a former mayor of the town of Maribojoc in the said province.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, and Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino are also among those supposedly eyeing Senate seats or local posts in the 2019 polls.
