Health Secretary Francisco Duque said Thursday that a general manager for the pharmaceutical firm of his family was responsible for its transaction with his agency.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Wednesday that Doctors Pharmaceuticals Inc. (DPI), chaired by Duque’s brother, Cesar, bagged a deal to provide adult multivitamins for a mental health institution run by the Department of Health.

(I told my siblings that from what I understand, they should not bid with any facility under the DOH. The problem was their general manager. She thought that only the bidding with the central office that I head is banned and she does not know that hospitals under the DOH are included in the prohibition.)

DPI's deal for supplying P114,000 worth of vitamins to DOH has been "totally, completely" stopped, said Duque.
