Mayors and barangay captains will face suspension if they fail to clear streets of illegal vendors and improperly parked vehicles, the deadline of which this month will not be extended, the interior department said Wednesday.

The agency gave local governments until Sept. 27 to submit reports on clearing operations, including before and after photos, following President Rodrigo Duterte's order to reclaim thoroughfares that are being used for private ends, said Interior Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III.

More than enough po iyon," Densing told radio DZMM.

(Secretary Año has spoken, definitely there will no extension to the 60 days. That's more than enough. The barangay can clean that in 30 days, if they will only be supervised by the mayor. But if the mayor does not direct them and that barangay officials don't move and just laze around instead, they will be suspended.)
