The National Democratic Front of the Philippines is optimistic about the road to peace between the government and the communists.

Communist Party of the Philippines leader Benito Tiamzon declared the first round of formal peace talks a success.

He also said the negotiations held in Oslo, Norway wiped out the hostility of the two previous governments towards the Reds.

"Overall in-affirm nito ang positive achievements nung mga nakaraang taon ng mga peace negotiations at nilampasan, binura 'yung animosity and over-suspiciousness na iniwan noong dalawang administrasyon na sadyang nagpabaya at humarang sa peace talks," he said.

(Overall, it affirmed the positive achievements of peace negotiations the past years and wiped out the animosity and over the distrust of the two previous administrations which neglected and hindered the peace talks.)

Tiamzon said if both parties remain determined in achieving peace, the reforms suggested during the talks will be achieved.

The first round of peace negotiations wrapped up last August 26.
