The owner of the Chinese ship involved in the June 10 allision with a Filipino fishing boat near the Reed Bank in the West Philippine Sea apologizes hours before Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to arrive in China.

Muntinlupa City Rep. Ruffy Biazon, vice chair of the House Committee on National Defense and Security, welcomes the apology but notes that the reconciliatory move would not be complete without knowing the identity of the Chinese shipowner.

He also believes the gesture should be a catalyst for the adoption of a Code of a Conduct in the West Philippine Sea.
