MANILA - Outgoing Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon on Thursday said an importer offered him a weekly bribe of P300,000 before he took the post, but he declined it.

He said he received a text message regarding the offer, but he replied in cuss words.

"Sabi ko, ‘G**o, kalokohan niyo yan, I don’t accept any form of gift’--kasi di naman bribe and tawag nila, it’s a gift," he said in a press conference in Taytay, Rizal.

(I said, that's rubbish. I don't accept any form of gift -- they don't call it a bribe, to them it's a gift.)

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday said Faeldon took a P100-million welcome gift upon his appointment as Customs chief last year.

Faeldon denied Lacson's claims and accused the senator's son and namesake of involvement in smuggling.
