The Australian Embassy and the Department of Education have launched a program that links Australian school communities to its counterparts in Manila.

The BRIDGE or Building Relationship through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement program began in 2008 and has covered different countries in Southeast Asia. The program aims to promote intercultural understanding, improve digital skills, and build a community of multi-lingual learners among students and teachers.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Amanda Gorely on Wednesday said the first leg of the program was launched last week at Makati High School and would include 3 more schools in the country.

“I think it’s always a learning experience to work in a cultured environment that is different to your own and Australian teachers coming here would get to experience the aspects of Filipino culture that we all know and love,” she said.-- ANC Early Edition, August 16, 2017
