Charges vs Patricia Bautista meant to cloud the issue: Kapunan
The Bautista family saga continues now with Atty. Lorna Kapunan, the legal adviser of Patricia Bautista, saying that the camp of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andy Bautista is trying to "cloud the issue."
On ANC's Headstart, Kapunan said the camp of the Comelec chair is filing several charges against her client to confuse the public.
"Because they cannot shoot the message, they are now shooting the messengers. We have robbery, we have qualified theft, we have extortion, we have libel, and against me, I know, cybercrime," Kapunan said.
Kapunan stressed that Chairman Bautista's camp is confusing the narrative of the case.
"They want to cloud the issue and tell the public that all the evidence has been either manufactured, fabricated, illegally obtained, robbed, raided from a safe---wanting to exclude all of these things as evidence in the pending investigation called the Doctrine of the Fruit of the Poisonous Tree," she said.
She added, "The narrative is this: P1.2 billion unexplained wealth. It is not about the marital case. It is not about the elections. We are now focused and the NBI is investigating."
The Comelec chairman has denied allegations that he has P1.2 billion in unexplained wealth.
