MANILA - Bacolod Mayor Evelio "Bing" Leonardia is asking locally stranded individuals who are not residents not to come to Bacolod as quarantine centers fill up.

Speaking to ABS-CBN TeleRadyo, Leonardia said the city has always accepted LSIs as long as local officials are informed in advance and subject to available space in Bacolod quarantine centers.

"If they are coming home to Bacolod, OK lang sa akin. Some of them minsan will fill up in their forms na taga Bacolod City pero taga Negros Occidental...We cannot afford to receive those from Negros Occidental," he said.

All LSIs arriving in Bacolod City undergo COVID-19 swab tests and placed in quarantine centers before being sent home. Those who test positive for COVID-19 are placed in isolation facilities.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of the Bacolod Inter-Agency Task Force, earlier warned there is now local transmission of COVID-19 in the city. At least 30 families in Barangay 26 have been placed under lockdown after a senior citizen tested positive for novel coronavirus infection.
