Outgoing Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales on Tuesday said it was still too soon to assess President Rodrigo Duterte's drive against corruption.

"It's too soon to grade him," Morales told reporters when asked how she would rate Duterte's anti-corruption crackdown.

The President had fired several officials over allegations of corruption. He also set up an anti-corruption body to go after presidential appointees.

Asked to comment on the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, the country's top graft buster said, "The intention really was to perhaps spare us from much more work, but whether or not their job will lighten our load, it remains to be seen."

Morales will step down from her post on Wednesday.
