The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday belied media reports that a man arrested for threatening a security guard with a loaded firearm is an anti-corruption official.

Quoting the Taguig police, the reports said suspect Mariano Jose Villafuerte III, supposedly the Director for Intelligence Investigation of PACC, pulled out his gun after arguing with the victim in front of a hospital in Fort Bonifacio.

The PACC does not have an intelligence investigation division nor any member with the same name as the suspect, said the commission's chairman, Dante Jimenez.

"Victim kami ng fake news d'yan," he told radio DZMM.

(We're a victim of fake news there.)

"Papaimbestiga ko ito... It's practically destroying the commission," he added.

(I will have this investigated.)

Jimenez said he has also sent a PACC representative to the Taguig police station.

Villafuerte was released from overnight detention after reaching a settlement with the complainant.
