MANILA - The Department of Health on Monday said there will be no grace period for the implementation of the nationwide smoking ban.

The Executive Order which mandates the designation of smoke-free public and enclosed areas nationwide will take effect on July 22, according to Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial.

DOH spokesman Eric Tayag, however, said the EO implementation starts on July 23.

Violators of the EO face fines ranging from 500 pesos to 10,000 pesos and possible imprisonment.
