MANILA - The Metro Manila Police is looking into the alleged kidnappings of several Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) officers, its chief said Wednesday.

Police Major Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, urged those with information to come forward.

"But just the same, tayo naman po ay nagco-coordinate na sa pamunuan ng BIR dun sa ibang alleged victim na sinasabi. Kailangan po ng masusing imbestigasyon pa," he said.

(But just the same, we are coordinating with the BIR regading the other alleged victims. A thorough investigation is needed.)

He urged families of the victims to file a complaint in order for police to pursue the case.

"Lagi nating panawagan nga na kailangan ng malinaw na impormasyon at kailangan natin ng magko-complain para ma-pursue natin yung kaso," he said.

(We are always calling on the public for clear information and we need a complainant to pursue the case.)

Aside from BIR, Eleazar said they are coordinating with the PNP's Anti-Kidnapping Group, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and Highway Patrol Group to verify the reports.

PNP-AKG director Police Col. Jonnel Estomo earlier vowed to investigate the reports of kidnappings.
