MANILA - Manila Mayor Isko Moreno confirmed Tuesday he had ordered the reassignments of 9 police officers for disobeying his orders to bar street vendors in key roads in the capital.

Speaking to ANC's Headstart, Moreno said he asked Manila Police District chief Vicente Danao Jr. to reassign the 9 after learning that street vendors continued to ply their trade on Recto Avenue, Juan Luna Street and Divisoria.

Hinde. Don't do this to me."

Moreno said he estimates at least 25,000 street vendors operating in Manila. He earlier said the city government will organize the street vendors, who are often blamed for garbage and traffic congestion in the capital.

He said the city government will not allow non-Manila residents to sell their wares on the streets.

During the interview, Moreno also reminded the police that video karera machines are strictly prohibited in the city. He said drug transactions are often conducted in areas where there are video karera machines.

Fruit game, video karera bawal. Bawal at bawal. Kahit sinong pulis pa nagpatong diyan, bawal," he said.
