Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Monday shot back at "keyboard warriors" who are fighting his push to restore the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) for Grade 11 and 12 students.

Speaking to ANC's Headstart, Dela Rosa said restoring mandatory ROTC would instill discipline and patriotism among the youth.

"Karamihan sa mga kabataan natin, lalo na 'yung mga netizens, gustong-gusto makipag-giyera sa China. Gusto niyo makipag-giyera sa China, ayaw niyo naman mag ROTC. Paano kayo lumaban dun?" he said.

He added: "'Yung keyboard-keyboard lang. 'Yung puro comment lang. Hindi ganun ang labanan. Actual giyera ito. Kinakailangan niyo magprepare."

Dela Rosa said the Philippines needs a reserve force that can be called upon in times of emergency. He noted that he would rather restore mandatory military service for Filipino youth but admitted it would encounter stiff resistance.

"Ayaw nga ng ROTC, how much more 'yung mandatory military training? The more na hindi makapasa...'Makibaka! Ayaw namin ng military!' Ay, sigurado 'yan," he said.
