At exactly 12 noon today, Independence Day, the Philippines salutes the brave men and women fighting for the country's freedom with a tribute video showing the names and faces of soldiers and policemen who died defending the people and the city of Marawi.

The tribute video is from Malacanang and the AFP.

Fifty eight members of the police and military have been killed in the fight to retake Marawi City from the Maute group--terrorists who have pledged loyalty to the Islamic State.

As the country marks its 119th year as an independent nation, Filipinos honor the heroism of those who fought for the flag, and those who are still fighting for it.
