The Quezon City government said it would provide free gadgets to about 170,000 public school students in preparation for possible online classes to keep them safe from the coronavirus pandemic.

Some 155,000 junior high school students and another 19,000 senior high school students will get free computer tablets from the city government, it said.

It also said it would distribute modules, flash drives with learning packets and other printed materials to students in kindergarten to grade school. City officials would also boost the internet connectivity in schools, they said.

Neighboring Navotas meanwhile will give P5,000 to some 1,100 students, said its city government.

Beneficiaries will include some students of the Tanza National High School, authorities said.
