An inter-agency task force (IATF) is studying a proposal to let movie cinemas reopen at half of their capacity in areas under modified general community quarantine, the least stringent among 4 lockdown levels, an official said Friday.

"Pinag-uusapan iyan sa IATF. Wala pa tayong pinal na desisyon d'yan kung iyan ay papayagan pero mungkahi na iyan ng mga mayors," said Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

(That is being discussed in the IATF. We have no final decision yet on on whether or not to allow that, but some mayors recommended that.)

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Davao City will be placed under MGCQ from June 1 to reboot the economy and stop job losses.

These areas will allow leisure establishments to re-open at 50-percent capacity, including tourism, fitness gyms, barbershops, salons and personal services, said Año.
