Davao Del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez on Monday said he harbors no ill will against House Speaker Gloria Mapacagal-Arroyo, who took the chamber's helm last year after his surprise ouster.

"Wala naman kaming problema pero hindi pa lang talaga nagkakasalubong na mag-uusap kami. Pero babatiin ko pa rin s'ya 'pag nagkita kami... Wala akong sama ng loob," Alvarez told ANC.

(We don't have any problem. We just haven't met to talk. But I will greet her if we meet. I have no ill feelings.)

The 72-year-old Arroyo was sworn in as the country's first woman Speaker last year, following a power tussle with Alvarez that eclipsed President Rodrigo Duterte's third State of the Nation Address.

Alvarez said he has not met Arroyo after his ouster because he stopped attending House sessions and retreated to his province.

"Hindi ako pumapasok. Pagkatapos ng ouster ko, umuwi na ako ng probinsya. Nasa district na ako, umikot ako... I was attending to the needs of my constituents," he said.

(I don't attend sessions. After my ouster, I went home to the province. I went around my district.)

Arroyo is on her third and final House term, which ends June 30.

Alvarez, meanwhile, is gunning for the speakership against incoming Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, who regained a congressional seat in Taguig in the May 13 elections.
