Why motorcycle group OKs ban on backrides

A group of motorcycle riders said Monday it supports a ban against backrides, even for couples, as parts of the country eased their coronavirus lockdown last week. 

"'Pag pinayagan mo iyong mag-asawa, [baka] pumasok na naman iyong mga habal-habal na ilegal," said Atoy Sta. Cruz, Motorcycle Philippine Federation director for administration. 
 
"Magkakaroon ng clog sa mga checkpoint kasi iisa-isahin mo kung talagang mag-asawa," he told DZMM. 

(If you allow backrides for married couples, illegal habal-habal operations might resume. You will have clogs in checkpoints because you have to ensure that motorcycle riders are married.) 

The government requires the public to stay at least meter apart from other people to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
