Incoming senator Pia Cayetano doesn't mind her family being tagged as a political dynasty as long as they get to serve the public.

“All over the world, you have people who are sons and daughters, grandchildren of former presidents. I've always said judge a person by the work that they do, by their character,” Cayetano said on ANC’s Headstart.

Critics have slammed the simultaneous bids of the Cayetanos in the 2019 midterm polls. But she said it was just a coincidence.

“I always say look at the quality of people who are running. Our Taguig mayor has been barangay captain, deputy minority floor leader, fought for issues on floor and he's now mayor...I am so freaking excited for his term. Kargahin na namin yung bansag na good dynasty, but let my brother prove himself,” she said, referring to youngest brother Lino.

Pia currently ranks fourth in the partial and official senatorial tally. Her brothers-- former foreign affairs secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and Lino Cayetano--have been proclaimed as Taguig City's 1st District Representative and as mayor, respectively.

Alan Peter's wife, Lani Cayetano won as 2nd District Representative of Taguig.
“That's one more Cayetano in politics, but the thing is I'm proud of each of them. So if we have to deal with this, we'll deal with it and we'll deal with it individually because each one of us will prove ourselves in the work that we do," she added.

The eldest Cayetano said education would be her priority once she returns to the Senate.
