The siege of Marawi and the slow rehabilitation of the city will remain fresh in the minds of some 63,000 voters as they troop to polling precincts today to cast their votes.

A UKG report said Marawi will have the longest ballot in this year's elections, with 120 local candidates running for different electoral posts. It said at least 9 candidates are running for mayor, 10 are running for vice-mayor and 60 candidates are vying for the position of city councilor.

Col. Romeo Brawner, commander of the military's 103rd Infantry Brigade, said authorities have yet to receive reports of any election-related violent incident in Marawi City and Lanao Del Sur.

"All our security forces are in place and our Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) are ready and on alert for any eventuality. As of now, the distribution of election paraphernalia to the EB and their transport to the different polling centers are ongoing," he said.
