The social welfare department said Tuesday it is still waiting for the government's "final decision" on the cash aid for some 5 million families who were left out of the first tranche of the assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government initially allotted P200 billion to give about 18 million families P5,000 to P8,000 for 2 months.

Those who were excluded from the first tranche can join a waitlist through village officials, said Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Joseline Niwane.

"Ito po ang idudulog natin 'pag na-collate po lahat sa ating IATF na sana malalaman po natin ngayon kay [Presidential Spokesman] Secretary [Harry] Roque kung ano pong final decision sa ating mga left out at saka kung ano pong mangyayari for the second tranche," she said.

(We will appeal that to the Inter-Agency Task Force once we collate everything. We hope to know from Secretary Roque today the final decision on those who were left out and what will happen with the second tranche.)
