Lacson not closing door on 2022 presidential bid

MANILA - Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday said he is not closing the door on a possible presidential bid in the 2022 elections as long as he has a "clear chance of winning." 

Asked if he is open to running for president after President Duterte steps down in 2022, he said he already ran for president in 2004. "I've been there," he said. 

He said he decided against another presidential bid in 2016 due to low numbers. 

"When people talk to me about the possibility of running in 2022, ang balik ko na lang sa kanila, I have only one requirement. I’m not closing the door but I have only one requirement - give me a clear chance of winning,” he said in an ANC "Headstart" interview. 

"I've become more pragmatic because after all these years in politics as a senator, I’ve won 3 times. I’ve lost one presidential campaign. You become more practical, you become honed," he added.
