'Sabong, inuman, tong-its': More than 1,000 barangays to receive show cause orders over lockdown violations
MANILA -- More than 1,000 barangays in the country will receive show cause orders due to lockdown violations, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said Tuesday.
(We issued a show cause order due to complaints like cock fights, drinking alcohol in public, tong-its in public, children playing on the streets and some paying for quarantine passes and barangay IDs.)
The official noted that they first gave a show cause order to 29 barangays in Metro Manila which increased to 50.
Diño said that they also received complaints about barangay officials who prioritized their relatives and allies for aid.
Chineck namin ito at vinerify," he said.
(When food was given, the complaints to barangay captian, was they prioritized their relatives even their allies. When the aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development came, same complaint, they listed their relatives and allies first. We checked and verified these.)
He added that they also received reports of people using the cash aid to buy drugs.
