A police general has yet to regain consciousness nearly 2 months after a chopper crash that also injured the head of the Philippine National Police, he said Wednesday.

Police comptrollership head Maj. Gen. Jovic Ramos is still in a coma, said PNP Chief Gen. Archie Gamboa. "We're still praying he'd be able to recover," he told DZMM.

Gamboa said he was "okay" after sustaining scrapes from the chopper crash in Calamba, Laguna last March 5, which injured 5 others.

PNP intelligence head Maj. Gen. Mariel Magaway, who was also on board the ill-fated Bell 429 chopper, has regained consciousness, showing good vital signs and undergoing therapy, he said.

The chopper's pilot and a crew member suffered spine injuries and were undergoing rehabilitation, he added.

The PNP is finalizing an order to lift the grounding of its choppers due to the crash, said Gamboa.
