Parts of the country may experience thunderstorms on Easter Sunday as easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific bring hot and humid weather, the state weather bureau said.

Easterlies are affecting Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao, PAGASA said in an advisory.

High temperatures cause water to evaporate quickly, leading to the formation of clouds that could bring thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, said PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quitlong.

PAGASA will issue an advisory on which areas will be dampened by thunderstorms 1 or 2 hours after its radars detect rain-bearing clouds, he told radio DZMM.

The temperature in Metro Manila is likely to be around the same as Black Saturday's 35.2 degrees Celsius, he said.

The dry season will reach its peak around the middle of May, Quitlong said.
