COVID-19 Good Samaritan: Homeowner waives rent for tenants

A woman and her husband in Mayamot, Antipolo waived rent for 3 families staying at their boarding house to help them cope with a 6-week lockdown of the entire Luzon. 

Maine Chu said most of her tenants, who pay her a combined P19,500 per month, are daily wage earners who lost their income when Luzon was locked down to arrest the spread of COVID-19. 

"Kung sisingilin ko pa sila, mas mahihirapan sila dahil no work, no pay po sila eh. Sabi ko po sa kanila gamitin na lang nila sa pagkain nila iyong ibabayad nila sa amin," she told DZMM. 

(If I make them pay rent, they will suffer more because they are in a no work, no pay situation. I told them to spend on food what they would have paid us.)
