More than just a way for COVID-19 patients to see their loved ones, the Philippine General Hospital's recently launched Tele-Kumusta service has allowed social workers to help families struggling amid the pandemic.

PGH spokesperson Dr. Jonas Del Rosario said the service is part of their "holistic approach" in caring for patients. The time allotted for video conferencing, he said, would help care for the mental health of their patients.

At the same time, he said, social workers are able to learn more about the situation of the patients' families. He said their social workers have also been coordinating with local government units to help families who have lost their source of income during the lockdown.
