MANILA Local governments in Metro Manila have so far received some P12.4 billion cash aid for poor families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the social welfare department said Tuesday.

The national government has allotted P100 billion each for the month of April and May to help low-income households following the Luzon lockdown set to end April 30.

So far, the agency has released the following amounts to Metro Manila cities, according to Undersecretary Camilo Gudmalin:

  • Manila: P1.48 billion
  • Quezon City: P3.02 billion
  • Caloocan: P1.7 billion
  • Las Piñas: P541 million
  • Malabon: P335 million
  • Makati: P558 million
  • Mandaluyong: P368 million
  • Marikina: P449 million
  • Muntinlupa: P430 million
  • Navotas: P223 million
  • ParañaqueP621 million
  • Pasay: P370 million
  • Pasig: P750 million
  • Pateros: P53 million
  • San Juan: P130 million
  • Taguig: P739 million
  • Valenzuela: P661 million

The Department of Social Welfare and Development earlier this month began distributing cash aid ranging from P5,000 to 8,000 based on minimum wage in the region.

Local officials may appeal the number of low income households in their area by sending a list to the regional office of DSWD, Gudmalin said.

"We will endorse that to our economic managers for inclusion to the list and allocation of additional funding," he said.
