MANILA - Poor families who are not under the government's conditional cash transfer program may still receive cash aid from the government during the coronavirus crisis as long as local government units identify them as indigent families, a senator said Wednesday.

Under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, indigent families will receive between P5,000 and P8,000 for 2 months to help them cope with the government-imposed work stoppage.

"Kasama na po dito lahat. Mga tricycle driver, trisikad, habal-habal, mga vendors, lahat ng nangangailangaan ng tulong, lalong lalo na po 'yung isang kahig isang tuka," Sen. Christopher "Bong" Go told DZMM.

"May narinig ako sa isang driver ng taxi na mahirap maging mahirap kaya wag na po natin pahirapan pa," he said.

A technical working group has been formed to draft the law's implementing rules and regulations.

The P200-billion fund meant to support indigent families will also be subject to state audit, he said.
