Test results have been delayed for some patients with suspected novel coronavirus in Pampanga province, its governor said Monday.

Authorities have confirmed only 3 cases of COVID-19 in the province and 41 other patients were still waiting for test results, said Governor Dennis Pineda.

"Namomroblema po kami sa result ngayon. Ang tagal ng balik," he told DZMM.

(We are having a problem with the results. It takes a while to return to us.)

"May mga namatay na hindi namin masabi kasi wala pa nga po iyong result until now... Siguro po sa volume din ng DOH kaya hindi rin agad mailabas," he added.
(Some have died and we cannot say whether it's due to COVID-19 because there are still no results until now. Perhaps the DOH is also swamped so it couldn't release results faster.)

The Philippines so far confirmed 380 cases of the respiratory disease, including 25 deaths and 17 patients who recovered.

The health department said Saturday it was "accelerating" its testing capacity with 5 additional laboratories and the expected arrival of 125,000 test kits. Before this, the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa was the country's lone COVID-19 testing facility.

Pampanga is centralizing its resources into its provincial hospital, where all suspected COVID-19 patients will be brought, said Pineda.
