Lascañas backs Matobato: DDS killed dance instructor of Duterte's sister

Retired Davao cop Arturo Lascañas on Monday lent weight to the claim of professed hitman Edgar Matobato that a death squad linked to President Duterte assassinated a reported dance instructor of his (Duterte) sister.

Lascañas said he and Matobato were part of the team that abducted and killed the victim, who was reportedly the lover of Duterte's sister. 

"Hindi ko sure kung dance instructor talaga. Pero ang instruction ni SPO4 Sonny Buenaventura, niloko nito ang kapatid ni Mayor na si Jocelyn," Lascañas said in a Senate inquiry into the alleged Davao Death Squad (DDS). 

"For several days, inabduct namin ang tao. Isa si Edgar [Matobato] doon kasama. Dinala sa quarry ni Bien Laud at dito inilibing ang subject person." 

(I'm not sure if he was indeed a dance instructor. But SPO4 Sonny Buenaventura said that he deceived Jocelyn, the Mayor's sister. we abducted him for several days. Edgar was part of the operation. We brought him to the quarry of Bien Laud and buried him there.) 

Lascañas also said that most of Matobato's DDS allegations are true. 

"Patunayan ko lang na ang mga sinasabi ni Edgar dito sa Senado is, para sa akin, 90-posyento ay tama. Hindi niya lang ma-elaborate ang iba dahil compartmentalized siya sa operation namin," he said.

(Ninety percent of what Edgar told the Senate is true. He just can't elaborate on some claims because his role in our operations was compartmentalized.)
