Laguna 3rd District Rep. Sol Aragones and several other lawmakers are optimistic that Congress can renew the franchise of media giant ABS-CBN before they go on a Lenten break.

This despite Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano's statement that the matter is not on the chamber's priority agenda.

Aragones believes that Filipinos will be on the losing end if the network is not allowed to continue to operate. The congresswoman, who is a former ABS-CBN reporter, became emotional as she explained her personal stake in the network's franchise renewal.

As her second home, Aragones credited the big role that the company played in helping her be the person she is today.

"Kung ano man 'yung naabot ko sa buhay ay malaking bahagi din 'yung ABS-CBN," she said.
