MANILA - Former broadcast journalist and senatorial candidate Jiggy Manicad on Tuesday set the record straight on his move to a brand new home in the south of the capital about 2 years ago.

The veteran reporter said he is prepared to answer questions about this, but explained that he used to live in an executive village in Pasig City before moving due to the fault line.

Describing himself as "maipon" (frugal) even before getting married, Manicad also claimed he was the "highest paid" reporter in GMA Network because he did 3 or 4 shows before leaving to pursue public office.

He added, he and his wife set up a TV production company, which is known by several big companies. This move was given the go-ahead by his then-mother company, even allowing him to buy airtime.

"From there, nag-build kami. Literally, nung nag-start kaming mag-asawa, sa banig kami nakatira. Ngayon, syempre, sense of home ka na," he said.

The company now runs 10 shows from the initial 1, he said. They have an office in Bonifacio Global City and own several vehicles for production.

If elected into the Senate, Manicad said he can promise he won't steal from public funds because he has seen the effect of corruption on the poor.
