Senator Richard Gordon on Monday reprimanded former Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon for allegedly attempting to use the restroom without permission during a Senate hearing.

This comes some 30 minutes after Gordon and Faeldon engaged in
a word war over the latter's Christmas celebration with his family at the Senate.

"Sergeant-at-arms, please collect that man (Faeldon). He did not ask for permission to leave," said Gordon as Faeldon tried to leave the room.

Faeldon then returned to his seat and raised a scrap of paper, where the word "CR" was scrawled.

Gordon, however, continued to question Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña about the importance of respecting all authorities. "You do not leave without permission," he said.

Faeldon apologized for trying to leave the room."Your Honor, you said a while ago that I'm not allowed to talk unless you ask me to talk. So I've written this (sign card) and been giving some signals."

Gordon, however, said he could not see the sign. "I don't have x-ray vision, I'm sorry. And if I did, you will burn," Gordon replied before allowing Faeldon to go to the lavatory.

He later said he is not engaged in a popularity contest.
