Netizens have weighed in on a proposal in Congress to lower the age of criminal liability to age 9.

One user defended the bill, saying it would help discourage adults who exploit minors to circumvent the law.

But another netizen disagreed, pointing out that child syndicates have nothing to do with the minimum age criminal liability.

Instead, he suggested enforcing the existing anti-trafficking laws and strengthen child protection and development programs.

A Twitter user tweeted that the Philippine law reflects how children are viewed as pawns even in a predominantly Catholic country.

Another Twitter use tweeted that he is appalled by how low and heartless society has become. ANC, Headstart 22 January 2019
