MANILA - The Department of Social Welfare and Development is appealing for better coordination for the efficient distribution of donations in areas affected by Taal volcano's eruption.

DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao made the call as donations from various groups continue to pour in.

"We've noted that a lot of private groups and individuals are directly proceeding to evacuation centers for respective relief operations," she said in an interview on ANC.

"We have to manage the donations that are pouring in. We have to ensure that the systematic and organized manner of providing assistance is undertaken. This is to ensure that all evacuees or all internally displaced persons are served, and no one is underserved or no one is overserved," she added.

Based on DSWD data, more than 29,000 families are currently staying in various evacuation centers while 17,000 are staying with their relatives.
