MANILA - Batangas 6th District Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto on Wednesday warned residents against returning to their homes where giant ground cracks were observed.

Residents of Taal Volcano island should also not return to the permanent danger zone, Santos said.

"Pag permanent danger zone, hindi ho talaga dapat nilalagyan ng tinitirhan," she said.

Government will declare the island a "no man's land" once the volcano calms down, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council earlier said.

Meanwhile, some 11,000 persons have fled to 12 evacuation sites in Lipa City, while 900 city residents were affected by Taal's rumbling, according to Santos.

Hindi 'yung multipurpose o gym lang pinupuntahan," she said.

Santos urged the public to "pray for Batangas" and all the victims of Taal Volcano.

"Sama-sama lang tayo, magtulungan tayo. Babangon at babangon po ang Lipeno at Batangueño," she said.
