Rains expected Monday in provinces coated with Taal ash: PAGASA

MANILA — Rains are expected Monday in areas blanketed in ash from the Taal volcano, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

While rains will likely fall in Laguna, Cavite and Batangas, winds will blow ash clouds to Quezon province, away from Metro Manila, where it coated cars and rooftops overnight, said weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.

Earlier, overnight rains in Lemery, Batangas mixed with volcanic ash, coating roads in a slippery layer of mud that slowed down rescuers bringing residents to safer ground.

A low pressure areas east of Mindanao is unlikely to intesify into a storm, but will bring rains over Eastern Visayas and Caraga, he told radio DZMM. 

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Aurora will also experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the amihan or northeast monson, he said.
